Smile Always…For All Is Forever Well

Excerpt from a letter

“Love is such a strange thing. It’s like fire. Fire can warm you and keep you alive, yet is can just as easily become uncontrolled and kill you. Love’s just one of those things I doubt we’ll ever come to understand. If love is such a wonderful thing, then why does it have to be so grueling…or at that point is it no longer love? Ah, questions that have no definite answer…only opinion. Well, here’s my opinion for you. True, ideal love (which is extraordinarily rare) is limitless and is simply always wanting the best for those you love. This love is completely selfless. It’s the only thing that can defy time a distance, and has more power than hatred.

“We’re the bridge across forever, arching above the sea, adventuring for our pleasure, living mysteries for the fun of it, choosing disasters triumphs challenges impossible odds, testing ourselves over and again, learning love and love and LOVE!” ~ The Bridge Across Forever

Now really consider this…
If you always wanted the best for those you loved, it would be a lot less painless. If their happiness, not your own happiness, was always your first priority, love would be a lot simpler. Then it would only hurt when our friends were unhappy, and we’d be more apt to help them. Unfortunately, society teaches us very differently. Society teaches us a greedy, selfish “love” (if it can even be called that) filled with pain and numbness. We’re no longer being warmed by the fire, but engulfed in flame and burned. Life becomes an impossible mission. After all, it is by not always thinking of yourself, if you can manage it, that you might somehow be happy. Until you make room in your life for someone as important to you as yourself, you will always be searching and lost…
Now imagine if this ideal love became a global phenomenon…we’d have a completely different world. No war, no hate, just pure love. Unfortunately it’s a dream that will never become reality. Still, the second you give up, the second you accept the cards life has dealt you, the second you begin to truly love, everything seems to come together and you are ultimately free.

“…there is such a thing as perfection…and our purpose for living is to find that perfection and show it forth….Each of us is in truth an unlimited idea of freedom. Everything that limits us we have to put aside.” ~ Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Alright, enough lecturing for now. I’ve probably scared or bored you to death by now. Just a thought to throw on the table.”

  1. so instead of Jimi singing “come on baby light my fire” he should have sung “come on baby, i’m gonna light your fire”
